Carmela's Teff Crackers: Tangy Sumac
Zesty and seriously snackable.
Sumac is a deep-red spice loved across the Middle East and Mediterranean for its tangy, lemony flavour. Carmela finishes her teff crisps with a dusting of it, plus a touch of olive oil and nutritional yeast for savoury depth. The result is a crisp with a little zing in every bite.
These are baked, never fried, on a base of teff, sunflower seeds and flax. They’re great straight from the bag and even better with dips. Try them with baba ghanoush, labneh-style spreads, tzatziki or a drizzle of good olive oil. Leftover bits make a tangy topping for salads and grain bowls.
